A Cement Truck

Take a look - we've got our first sign of cement being poured for the retaining walls. It was a windy day so the volume is a bit screwy. The next step will be installing the blocks.

The footings are on the move

Check it out! We have rebar (isn't it pretty) now in place and hope to be pouring concrete this week. Once the concrete is in, the blocks will go in forming the foundation.

Still sitting....

Bailey and I just got back from a drive to the lot. I was hoping to be posting pictures or rebar sticking out of the ground as the first sign of "construction"...but that's a no go. In fact, we've only seen movement on the lot three days in the past two weeks.

We're also waiting on pool drawings (since last Thursday) so I have little blog scoop....thank God we have a flexible lease plan as it's looking like eternity before this house will be done.

Grrrrrr

Well - I haven't posted anything since April 3rd as very little has happened.....UGH! The excavating crew has continued to dig a bit and encountered a large boulder which took some work to smash up. Other than that, the lot has sat pretty dormant for the past week. The crew was to be out today laying the footers for the retaining wall. We've got a message in to the GC to find out what is causing the hold up. This is not fun.

Raising the House is a No-Go

In an effort to capture better views, we submitted a letter to the HOA requesting to raise our house 2 feet. (The HOA restricts height levels in order to preserve views - since we back private property, we were hoping to get approval.) Unfortunately, they gave us a big, fat NO - so we'll have to stay at our current elevation. On the bright side, we'll save an extra $10,000+ and 1-2
weeks in delays.

To give a visual - the mountain slopes up to the right and our lot number is 6 (highest lot pad). The city light views are to the left - on the left hand side of lots 1-3.

Digging, Digging, Digging

Here is a video from 3-27-09 - wahoo!
